FAHAHU · CONSTRUCTION TOOLS
Turning Everyday Construction Calculations Into Simple Digital Tools
Fahahu is a growing collection of practical construction and home-improvement calculators designed to help users estimate materials quickly and confidently. I created the platform around a simple idea — turn calculations people repeatedly need into fast, accessible tools that provide useful answers without unnecessary complexity.
The Project
Building a Utility Platform Around Real Search Intent
Construction and home-improvement projects involve calculations that appear simple until someone actually needs to make them — how much concrete is required, how many flooring boxes to buy, how much paint will cover a room, or how much gravel a project needs.
Fahahu was created around these practical questions.
Rather than building another traditional content website, the objective was to create a utility-focused platform where the tool itself provides the value. Visitors enter their measurements, receive an immediate estimate, and can use supporting information to understand how the result was calculated.
The platform was also structured with growth in mind, allowing additional calculators and supporting content to be introduced over time without changing the fundamental user experience.

THE APPROACH
Designing Around One Question: “How Much Do I Need?”
Utility websites succeed differently from conventional business websites. A visitor isn’t necessarily looking to learn about the company behind the tool — they arrive because they need an answer.
I therefore approached each calculator around the shortest practical journey from question to useful result.
Inputs are focused on the measurements relevant to the calculation, while outputs translate those measurements into quantities users can actually work with. Where useful, additional estimates such as waste allowances, material units, or package quantities make the result more practical.
Supporting explanations, examples, formulas, and FAQs then provide additional context without getting in the way of someone who simply wants to perform the calculation and continue with their project.

WHAT I DELIVERED
A Scalable Foundation for Practical Construction Tools
Fahahu combines interactive calculators, useful supporting information, responsive usability, and a scalable content structure within a platform designed to grow as more construction and home-improvement tools are introduced.
01 — Interactive Calculators
Created practical calculation experiences that turn user measurements into immediate material estimates for common construction and home-improvement requirements.
03 — Search-Focused Content Structure
Structured individual calculator pages around specific user needs, combining the interactive tool with formulas, examples, supporting explanations.
02 — Useful Result Outputs
Designed outputs around quantities people can actually use when planning a project, including material requirements, waste considerations, and relevant unit or package estimates.
04 — Scalable Utility Platform
Built the website around a repeatable calculator structure, making it possible to expand Fahahu with additional tools and categories as the platform grows.
THE RESULTS
From a Website Into a Growing Library of Useful Tools
Fahahu provides users with a straightforward way to turn project measurements into practical material estimates without requiring spreadsheets, manual formulas, or specialist software.
Each calculator combines immediate functionality with enough supporting information to help users understand the result and apply it to their project.
More importantly, the underlying structure creates a foundation that can continue expanding into additional construction and home-improvement calculations — turning Fahahu from a collection of individual pages into a growing utility platform built around recurring user needs.
Have an idea for a calculator, utility platform, directory, interactive tool, or another digital product built around a specific user need?
Tell me what problem people are trying to solve. I’ll help you turn that requirement into a practical digital experience designed around how users actually need to interact with it.
